The outward appearance of you garden room will determine whether it will be a dramatic focal point or be deliberately disguised, so it becomes an unobtrusive addition to your outside space. As a result, the choice of cladding will be one of the key decisions you will need to make when designing your Hoem. We will be able to advise you on a range of options that will define the buildings aesthetics and personality.

Natural or stained larch has become the go-to option for many garden rooms but there are a large number of exciting alternatives ranging from corrugated sheet iron and zinc through to reclaimed timber and shou sugi ban planks, which utilise the traditional Japanese method of preserving wood, where the surface is charred in order to provide a naturally durable, waterproof, fire retardant and of course, beautiful looking finish.

Shape

Shape + glazing

  • Shape ExampleCube
  • Shape ExampleOffset
  • Shape ExampleApex

The shape and configuration of your garden room can be adjusted to suit your needs and the space that is available to you – there are 3 basic shapes that commonly form the core of the building due to their individual practical benefits as well as their unique characters.

Select Cube if you would like to take advantage of the environmental and aesthetic benefits of a living roof, whereas Offset or Apex allow you to include an optional roof light allowing natural light to flood into your Hoem.

The number of windows and doors your Hoem requires will depend on its size and how you intend to use the space – we will advise you about this during the design phase of your project.

All of our glazing options are premium quality and double glazed.

We believe in providing you with as many ways as possible to make your Hoem unique to you and recommend the use of accent colours as a key way of achieving this individuality.

As part of our Scandi Hoem package, we offer a range of accent colours that have been inspired by nordic landscapes. These can be seen above but the full colour palette available from the RAL colour system offers a far more extensive range of colours to select from in order to compliment and enhance your cladding selection.
